About
Lodestone Sound is Ian Williams, a multidisciplinary sound artist living, working & learning on the unceded coast salish territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh) and S’ólh Téméxw (Stó:lō) First Nations. Ian’s love of sound began with the open spaces of the eastern slopes of the rockies and the shifting harmonies of jazz piano. Finding a home in all levels of post production audio, including sound design, composition, rerecording mixing, dialogue editing, and foley, his work has landed him a Leo nomination for his work on “Exile”, and has been featured on everything from indie film to to APTN cooking shows to CBC gem television series. Beyond post-production, his work includes a 2019 sound installation at Bass Coast Music Festival (and an upcoming installation for 2025), and a reputation as a secret weapon of the west coast bass scene. An avid canoeist and location sound recordist, he can often be found gathering sound from up and down the pacific northwest.
